Gemini: How Artificial Intelligence Will Improve Devices

Google is adding artificial intelligence (AI) to its phones, making them smarter and easier to use. This means your phone will be able to help you with many everyday tasks in a much better way.

Google’s Gemini AI Integration

At a big event called the I/O 2024 developer conference, Google’s CEO, Sundar Pichai, announced that their AI, called Gemini, will be added to Android phones. This AI will help phones with tasks like solving problems, describing pictures, and spotting phone scams.

For example, if you need help with your homework, the AI can help you solve math problems or explain things. If you get a call from someone trying to trick you, the AI can warn you about it.

How AI Will Make Android Phones Better

Once this new technology is added to Android phones, it will help users in many ways:

Planning Trips: The AI can help you plan trips by finding information about places, helping you book tickets, and more.
Finding Information: You can ask the AI questions, and it will find the answers for you without you having to search through different apps.
Replying to Messages: The AI can help you reply to messages quickly, even suggesting what to say.

New AI Features for Android Phones

Sameer Samat, who works for Android, talked about three main new features that will change how phones work:

Circle to Search:

This feature lets you highlight anything on your screen and search for it in real-time.
It’s especially useful for students. For example, if you see a word you don’t understand or a math problem you need help with, you can highlight it and the AI will find the answer for you.
This feature is already available on Pixel and Samsung Galaxy phones.

Gemini Assistant:

Gemini will be a new AI helper built into the phone. You can use it anytime without opening a special app.
The AI will be able to help you create images, send messages, search for songs or videos, and find information in documents.
For example, if you’re working on a school project, you can ask Gemini to help you find pictures or information without having to switch between different apps.
This feature will be available on some Android phones in the coming months.

Gemini Nano:

This is a smaller version of Gemini that can do AI tasks directly on your phone.
It will be able to understand text, images, videos, and sounds using just a button and the camera.
For example, if you take a picture of a math problem, the AI can help you solve it. If you play a song, the AI can tell you its name.
It will also help detect scams and fraudulent calls. If it detects a scam during a call, it will alert you right away.

With these new AI features, Android phones will become more powerful and helpful, making your daily tasks easier and more fun.
